Live to Give!

During this holiday season remember the gift of giving. Take time to reach beyond yourself to others in need. This is a great time to re-connect with old friends and make new ones. Give love, service, joy, kindness, and forgiveness. Let this year be different than any other holiday season and allow the love of God to flow through you to bless and encourage others. Doing this won't break your budget, and your life may be changed forever. Just as the wise men gave gifts when they saw Jesus, you can give to others. And what you get in return is joy, peace, love and contentment. Merry Christmas!

I Gotcha!

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Have you ever been plagued with negative thoughts? When you're set to accomplish a goal or a new endeavor and the self-talk in your head is filled with "I can't because...", "I'm not good enough", "I'm too old", "I don't have enough money". We have to realize those thoughts are from a fear - based place. A place that wants to sabotage our dreams and hold us hostage to fear, doubt, shame, and hopelessness. We have to set our minds free of this self- talk. And how do we do this? We accomplish this with the Word of God! What does God say about my situation? What is His will for my life? We have to take our thoughts captive and speak the truth that God has revealed to us. We have to transform the "I can'ts" into "I will". So, the next time you are working on that dream, or faced with adversity, speak life over your situation and tell that thought, "I gotcha" and I'm casting you out and replacing you with positive thoughts that will motivate, inspire,and push me towards my destiny.

Lord, Have Mercy!

"Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy." Matthew 5:7

Mercy is defined as compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender,an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence: Have mercy on the poor sinner. This can sometimes be hard to do, especially when you have been hurt or offended. During this holiday season of love we need to allow mercy to flow from our hearts also. Mercy means operating in love despite how we feel. Feelings keep us bound and stops us from experiencing the mercy that is available to us. So, when you think of the person that has hurt, betrayed, lied, and sinned against you, show some mercy. Keep your mouth from uttering curses and instead speak blessings, forgiveness, love, and mercy. As we give to others, we have set ourselves up to receive what we need and so much more!

No, You Didn't?

Have you ever found yourself asking the questions, "how could they?" or "how could they do this to me?" In these times we have been exposed to the negative side of a person. What are we supposed to do with the pain, disappointment, anger, and disillusionment? First, we are to give it to God. Cast your cares on him for he cares for you. Second, we are to be real with how we are feeling and process those feelings. Stuffing negative emotions don't make them go away, it just makes them show up later in our lives when we least expect them. Third, communicate the hurt and betrayal to the person if it was a personal attack. If the offense was done to someone else, then pray for everyone concerned. Good people can do bad things.Sometimes the best of us make wrong decisions and do things that we later regret. Clear the air, as you do this you may discover what was at the heart of their actions, which most of the time is some sort of inward pain that is causing them to act out negatively. Fourth, forgive them. Forgiveness is a process, but it will lead to your healing and release from the emotions associated with the offense. And finally, examine yourself. Look to see where you have hurt, betrayed, and lied and ask for God to forgive you. If the offense was done personally to you, see if you played a part in the situation and if so, take responsibility for your part. Pray for the person that caused the offense and those they offended. These steps are not for those that want to be angry, bitter, victimized and depressed. This process takes courage, will, and a dependence on God to get you through this tough time. Can it be done? Yes, it can. The WHY of what they did may never be discovered or understood, but you can make peace with it for your own emotionally health. And what you may realize is you can see how they did what they did and develop some compassion and mercy on them.

Love On A Two-Way Street!

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:31

Have you ever wondered why its so hard for you to get along with some people? You may have sent out unloving thoughts and words that repels them from being in your presence. When people are practicing Godly love, unGodly love cannot dwell in that place and space. Even when there has been an offense towards you, your response has to be in love for there to be healing and relationship.The Bible teaches us to love thy neighbor as thyself.When we receive the love of God and love him, then we realize how much we should love ourselves. The measure in which we love ourselves is the same measure we will love others. So, if you do not love yourself, you are not capable of loving others. Only a love that is conditional, judgmental, fearful, controlling, envious and abusive can stand outside of God's love. The more you are gracious, merciful, kind, and loving to yourself, the more you can be to others. Then you can take them and yourself off the crosses of crucifixion you have erected. Jesus has already been crucified for us, so there is no need to put yourself and others on crosses of pain and punishment. Receive and give love and watch how people will be drawn to you. Is everyone meant to be in your life? No, but in love you will determine who should and can be!

Joy To The World!

During this holiday season lights and trees go up, people give gifts, and parties are in full swing. But for some this is a time of sadness and grief. As we celebrate remember the Christ in Christmas and spread love to someone in need. Especially to those that are grieving and experiencing hardships. Send a card, send a "thinking of you" text message, send a monetary gift, pray with them, take them out for a night of fun, or just sit with them. Be present with them in silence as they remember, tell stories, or just weep. Remember that love covers a multitude of sin. But love also comforts, gives, heals, and strengthens. Be blessed as you are a blessing!

The Pits!

Have you ever found yourself commenting on someone else's life or pointing out someone's flaws? We do this for a variety of reasons, some good and some not so good. But, the realization we must come to is that somewhere, someone may be doing the same to us. Discussing our choices and criticizing our lifestyle. In the end, we are accountable for ourselves and change must begin with us. The next time you want to add your two cents, stop and ponder, "what areas of my life do I need to change?" "How is my relationship?" "How is my money?" "How is my relationship with God?" Because once we do this, the next comment out our mouths should be filled with grace, mercy, and love. We are in this together trying to make the best out of life. Remember this and be gentle with yourself and others, or you may be the person in the pit next week with everyone standing on the ledge looking down on you. And if you are, you would want them praying and having some grace and mercy on you.

There are times in our lives when we feel lost, empty, and afraid. Times when we wonder what's next and how do we begin to get there. In these times we can reach for external sources to fill the void and frustrations, which for the most part, add to them, or we can choose to move towards the light of love and hope. What is this love and hope and how do we tap into it? We tap into the creator of all things (God) and let his power and light guide us, fill us, and empower us. How do we do this? By observing what our life and circumstances are trying to show and tell us. Surrender to the process of growth, healing, and transformation. Be still and know that He IS, and allow his love reside within you. Then, let go. Let go of all the pain and what others did to you. Forgive as you have been forgiven. And finally, accept his love, change, and rebuke, because its all leading to your purpose driven life. So, then you can ignite the light and let it shine as you go boom boom boom, Because you're a FIREWORK!

I've Got That Good Stuff For You!

19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

Have you ever came across a really good deal, sale, or opportunity and wanted to tell your family and friends about it? Heck, you may have even wanted to tell a stranger. Well, we are commanded by God to spread the good news of the Gospel. To make disciples. What does making a disciple look like? It means sharing your journey of life with God as the center of everything you do. It means being real about your triumphs and your failures. It may be having a weekly bible study or reading a book together with a topic that's relevant to what they may be going through. It means telling as many people as you can about the "good stuff" God has in store for them if they only accept and believe in Him. When we get as excited about God and all the benefits a life with him gives us, more than that sale or opportunity, then we can lead people to the "Deal of the Century", no, how about the "Deal of a Lifetime!"

Give Thanks, With a Grateful Heart!

 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:18

Life brings a series of ups and downs, curve balls, and unexpected tragedies. But, the scripture says, "In everything give thanks". How can we do this? How do we find joy in poverty, death, abuse, and a multitude of losses? The point is not to find joy in the situations that are painful. Its cultivating a heart of gratitude. Finding something to be thankful for everyday. It can be the feel of the sun across your face, children playing outside, great times with friends and family. Its learning to make your first thought a positive one. Its learning to give people the benefit of the doubt and giving them a chance to prove you wrong or right. Its letting go of past hurts and failures and taking in every moment and just resting in it. Then, we can truly understand and practice the art of "In everything give thanks" and then we can believe it and receive it, not only being the will of God, but a gift from God for us. Ya'll Gone Make Me Lose My Mind Up In Here, Up In Here!

15-17 “If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him—work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you've made a friend. If he won’t listen, take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest, and try again. If he still won’t listen, tell the church. If he won’t listen to the church, you’ll have to start over from scratch, confront him with the need for repentance, and offer again God’s forgiving love. Matthew 18:15-20 The Message Bible

Many of us struggle with the dreadful "C" word, conflict. Conflict is a part of life. There is good conflict and bad conflict. Some of us are taught to avoid conflict, but that can lead to misunderstandings, assumptions, lies, and torn relationships. We have to use conflict as a tool to get certain things accomplished. If you know you have a worker that is constantly late, and doesn't perform well, you have to speak to them, even if it may create conflict. They may not think coming in late is a big deal. But, in order to see change and make the work environment what it should be, a discussion has to be made. Some people hate conflict so much and want to always be the "good person", they will set other people up to be the criticizer and to take the hits. But, God has given us a road map on how to handle it in the above scripture. If you do not belong to a church, then go to a supervisor, friend, leader, family member, elder to be the unbiased mediator and witness. Work to settle the situation. Make sure that you and the other person is heard. (Rephrasing is a good tool to use). Most of the time conflict comes into our lives to make us better.So, next time you see conflict coming, don't run from it, speak the truth in love, hear what the other person is saying, and try to come to an end result that will be for the good (and that maybe losing something or someone). And most of all, learn from the conflict, what to or not to do next time you find yourself in a similar situation.

I Gotta Have Peace of Mind

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peacebe still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39

We are bombarded with so much in our lives. Our days are full of work, family, activities,etc...Now that we have the internet, we can keep going 24 hours a day nonstop. But, there is a cry within our soul for peace. A time when we stop with all of our doing and be still. A time to connect with God, our inner man, nature, and world. In this stillness, we hear the answers to all of our questions. In this stillness we are aware that there is so much more to life than our problems. In this stillness revelation, forgiveness, and healing take place. In this place of stillness is peace. No striving, no goals to meet, no errands to run. In peace nothing else matters. This is essential for us to live a soul healthy life. So, take a little time each day to be still and allow peace to surround you and be in you. It can be 5 minutes or 15 minutes. Just take the time. And watch how different your days will be. More focused, less stressful, and more joyous. Go, and get your peace of mind.

Please, Don't Leave Me!

Please, Don't Leave Me by Pink is one of my favorite songs. One line says, " I always say, how I  don't need you, but its always gonna come right back to this, please don't leave me". How many times have we said this to someone? or felt this way about an object of our affection that we want to desperately keep in our lives? At the core of all of us is a desire to be loved and accepted. And, we spend our lives in pursuit of this happiness. This pursuit can lead us to feeling tired, frustrated, and discouraged. Why? because we are looking through tainted glasses of  fear, hurt, betrayal, abandonment, and desperation. We are looking for love in all the wrong places. How do we know where the right place is? How can we attain the love we desire? In God, all we need is in Him. He has to become the object of our pursuit.  As we accept Him into our lives and make Him number one we make room for love. This process is easy: Love God, Love Yourself, Love Others! And it must happen in that order for us to experience healthy, thriving relationships. The truth is he never leaves us, we leave Him by our shame, guilt, disobedience, and rebellion. So, now  when I sing the chorus of this song I think, I can't do it without you LORD! "Please, Please don't leave me!" And I find great comfort knowing that His word says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

Keep Hope Alive

"Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick,but a sudden good break can turn life around." Proverbs 13:12, The Message Bible

Life can hit us with disappointment after disappointment. And with each blow we can grow weary, frustrated, angry, and desperate. These feelings of hopelessness can be valid. But, to turn things around we must realize that while life hits us with all its got, we are not victims. Keep moving, keep pushing towards tomorrow, even if you don't know what tomorrow holds. In reality, we live life moment by moment. Stay present, don't allow life to make you shut down and make you stop living your best life. Can you be down? Yes, but don't stay down, pick yourself up, get some friends that will help you up and support you in the tough times. Decide to face life head on and not hide your head in the sand.  Make the decision that you will live and not die. You will win! Get a determination and grit in you that you are a survivor and that what is happening now, will change, and you will be better not bitter. So  today decide to keep hope alive. And watch God meet you in this moment and give you exactly what you need.

Why, God Why?

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9

Have you ever wondered why does God allow this or that? Why do people who have hurt me seem like their life is great? Well, you are not alone. Many people have questioned the Omnipotence of God. But, in reality, some questions will never be answered. God's agenda is bigger than our agenda. And he loves all his children, whether they are doing good or bad. When we look on the surface of things, we can come to rash assumptions and decisions, but there is always more. Trust God, even when you don't understand. Somethings happen to shape us and push us to our greatest selves. Even if it was birthed from great pain and tragedy. Asking why all the time creates pain, bitterness, anger and frustration. The better questions are, how can I make a change in what I don't understand? And what can I do to change me? When we do this, we are partnering with God and not going against His will and purpose for the situation. God moves in good and bad, we have to join his flow and trust that what doesn't feel good, will work out for your good in the end.

If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right!

There are times when we find ourselves in relationships that are all wrong, but feel so right. When we find ourselves in these situations, the goal is to move towards what's right. Learning not to move with the constant ebb and flow of our emotions takes discipline and faith. Discipline to let reason and prayer lead our decisions for who should be in our lives. And faith to know that what you want can be obtained and if you get past your feelings at the present moment, you will be okay. The days of settling for temporary fixes and quick thrills have to be over. These relationships leave us empty and in a constant state of thirst. They also steal precious time, that we don't have and can't get back. In faith and discipline, we have richer relationships, less drama, less entanglements, guilt-free lives, and relationship that can live out their true intent for our lives. Its been said that people are in your life for a reason, season, and lifetime, but some people aren't meant to be there at all! We have to figure who represents what. Loving you, may feel right, but in the end, may not be right! How do you know? Wait, pray, and let God show you who's for you and what's the purpose of this relationship. And then, be obedient! So, your new song will be Love & Happiness!

Nothing Compares To You


So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
They kill us in cold blood because they hate you.
We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.
None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. Romans 8:38-39 The Message Bible
In life we talk about love and say we're in love, but in reality, many of us have been in lust and don't know what real love is. Real love is an act of selflessness. Its putting someone before yourself. Its forgiving, its kind, its long-suffering, its truth. We get frustrated with people, we give up, we hold grudges, we are mean, we lie, we abandon,we manipulate,we judge, we belittle, but yet we say we love. What's real love then? The Bible lists what love is in 1 Corinthians 13:4-13. And the verse above tell us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing we say, do, or think. We don't have to be perfect. We don't have to do all the religious rituals. We just have to be. And that is enough for God to love us. Do we need order, spirituality, and righteous actions? Yes, these things affect the quality of life we will live,but with God, his love outweighs it all. So, just know, no matter what you've done, said, or thought, nothing can separate you from His love and Nothing compares to God's love for you!

When I Move, You Move, Just Like That!

People often talk about obeying God, but what does that mean? It means to turn your will (desires, actions, thoughts) over to God and let Him direct them. How do I do that? you may ask, by learning what His will is for your life. Read the Word of God, pray, join discipleship groups and bible studies to learn how to live a life ran by God. Will this life be perfect? No, but it will have love, joy, peace, favor, and abundance. It will be a life that will be richer and deeper, a life where you will be whole (from the inside out). Want to know what to do about that relationship, job, school, move, ministry,etc? Get in God and be in sync with Him and join his rhythmic life , so then you can hear him say, "When I move, you move, just like that!"

Taking It To The Streets!

There comes a time in our lives when we have to stretch out and do something for someone else. We can't just focus on ourselves all the time. Stepping out of our churches, homes, and comfort zones will empower us to make a difference in the world. We can go out and make disciples (spreading the gospel of God), but we must also volunteer, and help others in need. Helping others, helps you. You will be able to focus on something and someone other than yourself and feel the satisfaction of seeing change in the lives of others. So, step out of your routine. Start a new project, volunteer at the Children's Hospital, feed the hungry for the holidays, help a friend or family member in need. Whatever you do, be the change you want to see in the world and take it to the streets!

But, the truth is, we have to give up control in order for our lives to work. Who do we give control to? The one who knows all and is all- God. As we partner with Him and allow our desires, dreams, and endeavors to align with his will for our lives, we can shout with all assurance- "I've Got This!" because He has me.

Help! I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up!

Hebrews 11:1 states, " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen."
Oftentimes, we lose our ground because we have an unstable foundation. Through trials, heartaches, disappointments we are not as stable as we used to be. Why? Because we have lost our faith in God. We started having faith in the things, situations, and our desires, not on what God promised. Have you ever heard people declare, such and such is my husband or wife? God could have promised them a mate, but they have put their personal desire for the object of their affection on the Word of God. So, when it turns out not to be that particular person, they find themselves being mad at God or losing faith in God because "their word" did not manifest. So, trust God and His specific promise to you and try not to add anything to it. Remember, when you have faith in the giver of the promise and watch His word manifest in your life, you are on stable ground and you win!

Are We There Yet?

Proverbs 4:26 states, "Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established."
We often ask ourselves, "Where am I going?", "what am I doing?" We often ask these questions and then look outward for the answers, when in fact they are within us. Its not found in our relationships, career, friends, and achievements.Through prayer and stillness, allow the answers to come. Allow your innermost being ( Holy Spirit) to lead and guide you to all truth. And then you shall know the truth, and it shall make you free. The path will not be perfect, but it will be right for you...safe journeys!

Sick of Being Sick...I am Healed

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

There are times in our lives when we will be sick. Physical sickness, emotional sickness, spiritual sickness, etc... But what do you do when your sickness is continual or in several areas at one time? When you're tired of being sick and want some relief? What we may find ourselves doing is complaining, arguing, feeling depressed, being mad at God and man, and living stagnant lives.But, that is not the proper response to these tough situations. I am going to share with you some ways to move from sickness to health in your inner man, so that your outer man can also be healed.


  1. Make God number one in your life- Sometimes the reason we are sick is because of bad choices. Our choices have had led to consequences that are manifesting in our lives. But, one way to change our choices is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and realize he is the ultimate help and answer. 
  2. Get some Inspiration- There are many ways we can get inspired in whatever state we are in. Read your bible, pray, read a devotional, read an autobiography of someone that inspires you, and listen to inspirational or gospel music. Tap into the positive. fill your day with songs and words that will change how you look at your situation and life. Incorporate a song and scripture of the day or week. See how focusing on something positive and enlightening will change you.
  3. Renew your mind- The bible says we are transformed by the renewing of our mind. So, our thoughts have to change. Change to what? Change to think what God says about us and life. Let our thoughts be led by His principles and watch how your choices and actions change.
  4. Have a wellness plan- When we go to the doctor along with a diagnosis he gives us an action plan to make things better. We have to have this in every area of our lives. A plan to get out of debt, a diet plan, a spiritual plan. Having strategies and goals will allow us to have a road-map in which to get to healing. Consistency brings change.
  5. Be accountable- Many times we can have points 1-4 done, but unless we are accountable to someone we find ourselves slipping back into old habits and ways of thinking. We need to reach out to those that are where we want to be or those on their own journey to wellness and team up to be accountable about our process. Someone that we can check-in with on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The more accountable you are, the easier and more successful your journey to wellness with be.
  6. Realize that His grace is Sufficient- If you mess up, fall off the plan, revert to old habits, realize that God's grace is sufficient for you. Get back up again and start it again. Don't let discouragement, shame, guilt, and fear keep you bound. Examine what made you get off track, learn from it and get back on your wellness plan. And this time on the journey you will be wiser and stronger.
In life there will be sickness. But, we have to make sure our inner man is strengthened daily. We have to know where to go and what to do in sickness and health. So, next time you find yourself sick, try incorporated these steps and see won't things get better for you. And then you can make the declaration, " I am healed"!

I've Got to Get Myself Together- Faith Over Fear

Yesterday my husband preached a sermon titled "Faith Overcoming Fear" and it made me see how some of us are driven and live our lives from a fear - based place. Fear is a place where we are stagnant, angry, hurt, anxious, tired, and self-sabotaging. Living like this is not God's plan for our lives. In him we can have life and it more abundantly. But,how do I get to this life when fear has consumed me and gripped me for so long? Well, I am going to discuss three ways we can have victory over fear and Get Ourselves Together to live our best lives.

  1. Be present- This moment is all we have. We have to make the most of our moments and stop wasting time with negative thoughts, energy, self-talk, and actions. We need to take every thought captive and turn the positive into a negative to create a powerful present moment.
  2. Seek God and His will for your life- God has to be first in our lives in order for our lives to be prosperous and meaningful. We have to learn to seek his will through prayer, fasting, and reading the Bible. We have to examine our choices and see if they line up with God's principles and plans for us. If you feel unsure after praying, fasting, and reading the Bible, then seek Godly counsel from wise people. And remember after receiving the counsel, pray again about the situation.God is faithful to send revelation and confirmation to your situation for you to make the best choice.
  3. Do It Afraid- We have to learn to use our fears as motivation. As fuel to propel us forward to our destiny. We have to step out in Faith, knowing that God has our backs and even if we don't reach our goal, there will be precious life lessons and experiences that will cause us to grow and be better. Trust God, not what you feel and Just do it!
So, how do we live with Faith over Fear? We get in the game called Life and we step out in faith and become co-laborers with God to create our best lives. In faith, there is no failure, just lessons and experiences that will make us better, wiser, and stronger. 
Deuteronomy 31:6- " Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
